This version's set in WW1? I've done zero research here, but it sounds interesting. Earlier versions I understood were set in WW2, along with Superman and Captain America (from competing comic companies- DC and Marvel, respectively) each punching Hitler. IIRC, Lynda Carter's "Wonder Woman" was working in U.S. Naval intelligence.

Wonder Woman first appeared in October, 1941. In DC Comics. She soon joined the war effort on the side of the Allies. :!:

Myself, son and family hit the walk-in last night to see "Wonder Woman". The boys gave the movie 3½ *'s each. We gave the movie a solid 3 *'s. A few dry spots in the movie, they could have cut 10-12 minutes and still have a great movie.

The pop-corn was great.

;)

With $100.5 million in North America and an additional $122.5 million internationally, Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman can boast the biggest-ever opening weekend for a film directed by a woman, Variety reports. With a budget of $150 million (which it has already more than recouped), Wonder Woman was already the most expensive film ever directed by a woman

I'm just observing here...

Is it just me or is that a star of Bethlehem in the front of her headgear?

Just a couple of things I recall, if I understand... 1) Lynda Carter's tiara had a red 5-point star. I don't know if it was just easier to draw in a comic book, or if it was for some other reason. 2) I heard a good many of the superheroes we know were invented by Jewish Americans.

Actress (Gal Gadot) is Israeli/Jewish, served in the IDF. She created a stir in the lefty community by expressing her support for Israel in the Israel-Gaza kerfluffle.

None of that really surprises me.

Somehow that wouldn't be such a shock either. Although the Wikipedia article doesn't doesn't really address either point... aside from mention of her military service and knowledge of weapons... you just never know till you at least kinda sorta get to know somebody. And sometimes they'll still surprise you.

Wonder Woman muscled past the $400 million mark on Tuesday at the domestic box office - an increasingly difficult feat for any film to achieve in North America.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, the summer hit is a major, and much needed, victory for Warner Bros. and the DC Extended Universe of superhero films.

The femme-centric superhero tentpole, starring Gal Gadot, has smashed a number of records since first hitting theaters in early June, including becoming the top-grossing live-action film of all time from a female helmer, with more than $795 million in global grosses.
